When Was the Last Time You Skipped Barefoot in the Grass?

Well, I know that those of you who are already on The Playground know the power of both deliberate and playful practice. But this week I am sharing a few videos that are examples of both deliberate practice and pure play!

These videos are from Brisbane, Australia. It was in March of 2020, and Brisbane was the last place that I taught just as the pandemic lockdowns started taking place all across the planet. I was trying to secure a flight back to NYC (then the epicenter of the pandemic) before I taught this class. The US government was telling its citizens to come home, and the Australian Government was telling non-citizens to leave or possibly be stuck there for a very long time.

There was a beautiful bowling green just outside of the studio and we decided to spend the afternoon class on the turf. We began by skipping. I can't tell you how much I (and we) needed that skipping! The class was filled with people of all ages and abilities and that afternoon we skipped, rolled, cartwheeled, did plenty of classic yoga poses, went upside down, breathed deeply, moved with joy and played like the resilient, ageless creative creatures that we are!

I am grateful for our virtual connectivity and for the opportunity to meet each and every one of you in person, somewhere, someday, so we can continue to learn together, celebrate the joy of movement, and champion the power of practice infused with the generative and life-giving POWER of PLAY.
