There are numbers benefits to a sincere and committed practice of yoga, and some of the wonderful benefits are deep feelings of rapture, joy, contentment, and tranquility. But sometimes our efforts are misdirected, or strained in some way, and we end up missing out on the sense of ease and delight that comes from a full-bodied, lighthearted and playful approach to yoga practice.
One aspect of a playful practice of yoga that can be especially supportive is the cultivation of devotion. In a way, asana practice is a type of devotion in motion - and devotion in stillness. It is a simple and joyful offering of body, heart, mind, and breath, just as they are. We inquire, we explore, and we allow our practice to become a form of divine play, so the above-mentioned qualities have an open and sacred space to reveal themselves.
