In his brilliant book The Mad Farmer Manifesto, the poet and essayist Wendell Berry writes: "the real products of any years work are the farmers mind and the cropland itself—the finest growth that farm land can produce is a careful farmer." Pay attention to the present, as it will bear fruit in the future. And in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali (sutra 2.16), Patanjali says: "the pains that are yet to come can be, and are to be avoided."
In this three sessions series we will look first at specific asanas (and a variety of ways to do them) to address the health and functionality of our feet and knees, then the hips and lower back, and finally the neck and shoulders. We will address these specific areas with the understanding that they are always in relationship to the whole body. Our intention will be to explore just a few of the many ways that we can use our yoga practice to bring an affectionate attention and awareness to specific regions, and then learn how to spread that awareness and intelligence throughout the whole body.
These sessions are open to sincere and dedicated students who are curious, open, and devoted to a deeper inquiry into the process of practice and the limitless bounty it has to offer.
